I'm Gabriel Bolarinwa, a self-taught frontend developer based in Nigeria with a focus on building performant, accessible, and visually deliberate web experiences. My path into software wasn't conventional — I started exploring development in 2022 alongside a demanding academic schedule and without the hardware to go deep. In 2025, I committed fully: new machine, structured roadmap, and a clear standard for what I expected of my own work.
Roughly 90% of what I know came from YouTube, documentation, and deliberate practice — with structured learning from a full frontend certification course filling in the gaps. That self-directed nature shaped how I work: I research before I build, I document before I code, and I hold my output to a production standard regardless of whether a project has a client or a deadline.
Every project in this portfolio was built as a self-imposed engineering challenge — not to fill a resume, but to close the gap between where my skills were and the standard I was holding myself to. The case studies reflect that: deliberate stack choices, honest trade-offs, and real post-mortems on what I'd change.
I'm always open to discussing new projects, creative ideas or opportunities to be part of your vision.

Completed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination with notable performance in mathematics and data processing — subjects that laid an early foundation for logical and computational thinking.

A comprehensive frontend certification course covering the full modern frontend stack — from core HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals through to frameworks, testing, and deployment. Served as the structured complement to three years of self-directed learning.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, building academic rigour in the theoretical foundations — algorithms, data structures, systems — that underpin production-grade engineering.
Supporting skills I lean on for design, video, and audio work — not core to my stack, but they round out how I ship ideas end to end.

Three years of focused frontend engineering have produced a clear picture of what I can build and, more importantly, what I cannot. I can architect a performant React or Vue application, design a component system from design tokens up, integrate third-party APIs, and ship to production with measurable Lighthouse scores to back the work. That standard is documented across the case studies in this portfolio.
The goal was never to be a frontend developer — it was to be a software engineer. Frontend was the entry point: the discipline with the lowest barrier to visual feedback, the fastest iteration cycle, and the clearest line between what you write and what the user sees. That foundation is now solid. The next phase is building the other half: server-side logic, database design, API architecture, and the systems knowledge that makes the difference between a developer who consumes backends and one who builds them.
